Movie – Miles Ahead

 For a rookie, this movie probably doesn’t teach me about the revered jazzter, or ‘social music’ as he named it unwilling for it to be categorised.Quickly I realise I am oh so bored of reading/watching biographies about musicians and their drug habits. I don’t know about you but I lose respect pretty quickly when that becomes the focus of their being.And so we go into 24 hours of Miles Davies (Don Cheadle) life when a Rolling Stone reporter (Ewan McGregor) turns up to get the scoop on his comeback. The fallen musician has other ideas and the reporter becomes the driver/drug finder/lookout/crime accomplice and general right hand man. Well, sort off.Quite a slow film seeing as it’s only about a day with lots of music and mostly flashbacks to te heyday/ex-wife.Managed to keep up with all my emails during this quiet morning cinema with no-one sitting around me. Thank heavens for the coffee and chocolate and I have to say, excellent performances and well-made film.Just a sad story.7/10Seen a film lately? Do let me know @RickieWrites
