Movie: Song of the Sea

Song of the Sea reminds me of the family cosiness of The Snowman and the gentleness of 2014’s The Wind Rises.The opening credits made me thing think this had Scandinavian influence but as soon as dialogue kicks in, we know that we are in fact, in Ireland. The animation opens with a heavily pregnant mother putting her oh so cute toddler, Ben, to bed and before I even kick off my shoes and relax, family life is thrown a wobbler. It turns out, Ben’s little sister is pretty magical and together they must go on a dangerous adventure to save the fairies of the land?Is there a better story line? I don’t think so!I adored the cuteness, the magic and the beautiful soundtrack that so befitted some of the haunting scenes. The theme song is already in my head, I recognised it instantly when it was used as the soundtrack to kick off a light show at Festival 8 at the weekend!8/10Smile factor 9/10
