Movie: Inside Out
You know the voices in your head? Well this is about the emotions in your mind! Riley is a kid who’s life is mainly full of Joy until she is moved to the other side of America when her father gets a new job and Sadness makes an appearance, quickly followed by Anger. Once in San Francisco, Disgust comes into play too as Riley realises she is away from her school, her home, her friend and most importantly perhaps her ice hockey. All the emotions are played by a different animated character, all wanting their piece of the action to rule Riley’s feelings but held back by Joy, who leads the emotions team. Inside Out clearly tells the worlds that Joy should be the main emotion felt by a little girl and sadness, anger and disgust will play a part. Humanity’s job is to fill other people with Joy.A superb idea, clearly and cleverly conveys to young girls --everyone, in fact—that they deserve should be happy and other emotions should be minimalised, which is pretty much my life mantra! It’s fantastic to have a little insight into Mum & Dad’s brains too and the emotional characters pushing their buttons when trying to deal with their once happy child.
And the title keeps putting this Gun track in my head so that’s a bonus. It would have been hilarious if that turned up during the closing credits.8/10Smile factor 9½/10
