Another French film, another delight! In 1958, a typist wants to leave her small town and goes to be interviewed by a seemingly one man insurance business. Rose also leaves behind he widowed father who is all set on her marrying a local boy.At the audition interview, Rose is up against a room full of pretty girls, trying to make themselves even more attractive to their potential boss, a bachelor. Rose wins out based on her superfast tying skills. However, it turns out she is a clumsy secretary and it is only her wizard typing skills that keep her in a job. These are the very same typing skills that lead her boss to coach her and enter into a renowned international typing contest. He even moves her into his ample home so she can practice for more hours. And yes, romance is blossoming but neither is acknowledging this point, concentrating instead on winning. The cast of characters include her best friend from home and his, American best friend and wife – his former flame - plus his family make an appearance for a family dinner.Thoroughly enchanting, this is another film that made me long for pussy bow blouses and I immediately went the vintage fair next day and bought one! Still unworn as yet, as Summer arrived soon after and I’ve had a month of cotton dresses instead of 60s polyester!8/10Smile factor 8/10Coffee rating: Cappuccino
