Movie: Ex Machina

Or the Machine One as I’ve been recalling it.The fourth film I’ve seen in January (out of four) that involves a main character with bullying or control freak tendencies. This one is a silicon valley built my billion dollar business from my bedroom type. Ok well, a Google type, actually as he’s built a search engine that the whole world uses and is now locked away on his own in an underground complex (can’t really call it a house) building robots resembling the perfect woman blah blah blah.To see if these creations are the real deal as far as artificial intelligence in concerned, he lures in one of his nerd employees. Landing by helicopter a mile away from the glorified play den Ryan Air style, he then has to find his way to civilisation via an obstacle course. Once he checks in, he realises his internet genius hero is a hard-drinking, control freak who to the untrained eye, seems to have pretty much lost it.Will he fall for the robot? Will he make friends with the genius?The bigger question for me is, will the tables ever be turned and it’s a woman genius-control-freak who constructs the ‘perfect man’ instead?
