Movie: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

The previous Captain America films (The First Avenger and Marvel Avengers Assemble) have left me unmoved – in that I don’t remember anything about them. I was very excited about the very first one but I guess childhood memories of the character are distorted and Captain America no longer holds the same fascination to me as a grown woman. However, a chance conversation with one of my girlfriends the night before, who described it as more of a thriller than superhero film, gave me some faith. And she was right. This time around,Captain America still has misgivings about S.H.I.E.L.D, even more so when he realises a senior agent (good to see Robert Redford not  lost at sea) may be behind some serious wrong-doings so this becomes a political thriller. All this while his clean-cut nature is still getting to grips with life in the 21st century. Who to trust? In flies The Falcon to be his sidekick to help defeat the unstoppable Winter Soldier although shame we didn’t see more of in-air antics.7½/10Smile factor 6/10
