Eating in Vancouver
I mentioned my love for Sylvia's to a local in Vancouver who went on to rattle off a number of modern alternatives. I'll take Sylvia's old-fashioned service and old-fashioned view of the sunset; give me the oldest hotel in Vancouver on English Bay any day of the week!We paid pilgrimage twice during this trip. The first, we were too full for another course so we plan to grab something later, and then the Irish coffee arrived looking like dessert!
Our next dinner is pasta at home as the game is on Saturday night. We bought the ingredients fresh from Granville Island's legendary public market. Well fresh, in the we bought fresh pasta and the sauce and put it together in our Airbnb place. We sure felt at home with the scene on the TV and the view outside our 9th floor window looking out to Burrard and English Bay.Having nearly succumbed to the friendly greeter outside last time, this week we finally went to Judges, the local Indian restaurant on Davie St. Honest, quality, plentiful and inexpensive; in fact, two meals for me, it lasted into next day! Another old skool classic with just the right amount of attentive service; this has already earned it's place for a return trip next time. There has to be a burger and during this 11 day trip, we afforded one at a new to us, Romer's and then one back at Sylvia's (although we only went in for cocktails and bar snacks but the sunset was due). Romer's like many in Yaletown have booths and tables and excellent service along side an array of local and international beers. There is so much inexpensive choice to eat out in Vancouver, from greet street food to shopping malls, to food markets and diners, and fast food to hotel dining, we are always going to have variety and be well fed!@RickieWrites
