Birthday trip 2015: Salzburg

 

A highlight of the Salzburg trip was the Mozart museum which always people taking photos outside it. The museum was above a Spar shop (which made me sing Spar to the tune of Kiki Dee's 'Star' every time I went past one). There was as much reference to the composer as I expected although there were far less crowds at the nearby former Mozart residence. Most of what I learn came from the museum, which is the birthplace of this well-to do Mozart, who doesn't appear to have any heirs now.Our hotel, the one with the bath in the lounge and toilet at the other end of the suite, didn't escape the Mozart influence. We stayed in the Magic Flute room which may have been the strangest room I've ever stayed. (see hotel reviews)The biggest highlight was the Salzburg card. Our hotel had decided against selling it so we popped to another around the corner who did and were so helpful with it. This card provided amazing value at xx as it got us into all the attractions we wanted to go into and included a travel card.As well as the Hohensalzburg fortress, the museums,  Fortress funicular, the Unterberg the card bought us admission to the zoo, which we enjoyed on a day that was  unseasonably warm and sun that ui regretted wearing may wool dress. I wish we had these cards for UK cities. Frankly I'd use it in Birmingham where I live!Next up - part 3: Munich@RickieWrites
