View from the Room: Travelodge Southampton Central
LocationVery central. Travelodge’s tend to be tucked way off the main street and this one is (currently) behind ArgosStyle/characterModern, convenient and covering all the basics.ServiceAn amazing welcome. There were a lot of people in reception and as I looked for the expected automated check in machines, I’m ushered to the front of the queue as it turned there were groups checking in together. I couldn’t access the booking reference quickly enough and they just took the name and address (and my bf who booked it wasn’t even with me). I was asked if I was in town for anything specific. I said to get some work done’ and they promptly gave me Room 312 – assumedly because they expect it will be quite.RoomBathroom: No bath tub which is always the bane of my hotel stays but apparently they only have them in family rooms and they were booked up, I suspect, as it’s the tail end of half term.2 bath towels, 1 hand towel. This is the first time I have seen a power socket under the mirror – just where it should be for plugging in hair styling aids!Oh and power points and little lights in the headboard on both sides.Bed – four pillows and a good duvet. Food & drinkKettle, instant coffee and tea in room.Restaurant/café serving full breakfasts, lunch and dinner. We experienced the unlimited full breakfast (£7.95) and or light breakfast of cereal, toast etc. (£5.75). Both are great and free for kids.Value £57 booked a couple of weeks in advance, which is OK for a double room in the centre on a Saturday night.Access Lifts and stairs. The room card is needed to access the area with the lift, although I noticed on most occasions it was unlocked, perhaps because the busy reception was always manned?Couple/Family friendly They have family rooms and several helpful reception staff.@RickieWrites
