Movie – The Wind Rises
A must see, delightful film throughout its wondrous 127 minutes.A Japanese film which we happily saw with sub-titles rather than a horrid dubbed version, this is one of those animations that appears so life-like. As a young boy, Jiro dreams of working with planes and is inspired be a legendary Italian aeronautical engineer who comes to him in recurring dreams. He grows up to do well in university and in the 1920s joins Mitsubishi. See, it’s already brilliant! One day, on his way back to university, there is an earthquake and his train derails. He meets a young girl whose chaperone is injured and he helps them get home, before being on his way. Years later, he receives a message from her, along with his belonging he leant them to help with the sprained leg. Will they ever meet again?Such a delightful film that will have you on an emotional rollercoaster by the end. No one left the cinema until the credits had fully rolled, that’s for certain.Already, one of the films of the year.8½ Smile factor 9/10
