Movie - The Men Who Stare At Goats

Brace yourself.I’m not a Clooney fan or Brad Pitt for that matter. They were both in one of the worst films I’ve ever seen, Burn After Reading, but Clooney has made some good stuff since and quite frankly, The Men Who Stare at Goats looked utterly comedic and watchable at the outset of the first trailer. The story is about a group of people….actually it doesn’t matter what the story is as it’s the one-liners that makes the film;‘What’s the most common saying in France? I give up’!……But the story is about a division of the US army dubbed ‘The New Earth Army’ led by the hippy-esque leader played brilliantly by Jeff Bridges. The experimental army (Jedi Warriors) are apparently trained in psychic powers in the 1980’s, hence the title as they claim to be able to use their minds to stop the heart of a goat. They now come together unexpectedly in some hysterical circumstances centring on the reporter (Ewan McGregor) looking for a big story as compensation for his marriage breaking down. There has been some criticism, partly directed at the apparent ‘wooden’ performance of McGregor but it’s a comedy after all so as long as it has some well written jokes, a loose storyline and good comic timing and expressions, it works. This does. 7½/10 Smile factor 9/10[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SreufFevUSw&hl=en_GB&fs=1&]Follow my updates on TwitterThe Men Who Stare At Goats (Original Soundtrack)The Men Who Stare at Goats
