Movie – The Amazing Spiderman
The amazing Spiderman? Surely we’ll be the judge of that!It wasn’t on my must-see list as I didn’t enjoy the last Spiderman I saw – the one where he bought the dark suit and basically went to the dark side – so I’m not in a desperate rush to see this, except there is nothing else on.It’s been weeks since I’ve had my regular Friday fix of cinema, firstly with the European football tournament on, I saw – or at least had on in the background, every match and then with the obligatory Birmingham Jazz and Blues Festival, I went to at least one performance every day. So you can see what with earning a living too, time was pretty tight! So that’s why I find myself at the cinema to watch a film I’m not bothered about. However, I am pleasantly surprised. There is no taking away that it’s a film for boys (men) but the geek boy gets the most popular girl in school theme is minimised. Although on that note, why are the geek girls made out to be uber-glam and the geek boys, well not so. Oh yes, because it’s a film for boys. What I like is the back story and the fact that Martin Sheen (the President) is in it, playing Peter Parker’s (Spiderman’s) uncle. Its fun watching a spider fight with a lizard to save the planet too. Watch if you have grown up reading action hero comics of the old school variety.7½/10Smile factor 8½/10
