Movie – Sightseers
A must see because I like to support British films, unless I absolutely have no interest in the subject matter obviously. Billed as a dark comedy, Sightseers seems like it could be really good but it didn’t quite get there. In the rush to be clever, I felt like some of the humour was taken out.Based around two main characters who are in a new relationship, both perhaps loners previously, the women in particular is a 30-something living with her strong-minded, manipulative mother, sees this as her escape route. You may have seen the film is a comic take about serial killers and these two are they; what starts as one (accidental?) death multiplies quickly with the girlfriend joining in.I would have liked more humour in the first half but the film is 85% dark, 15% humour. There is a little twist towards the end and in fact it does have a good ending, albeit not a happy one!6½/10Smile factor 5/10
