Movie: Minions
An absolute delight, there’s a ‘kids’ (of all ages) film out!The Minions had some familiarity about them but I hadn’t made the connection that they are a spin-off from the Despicable Me film – I’ve only seen that once. I loved this in the same way. The story of the Minions through the ages; they helped build the pyramids, lived with cavemen and worked for dinosaurs, Dracula and battling kings. They just want a scoundrel to work for and as their habit of accidentally getting their boss killed occurs yet again, they start to feel a little miserable while boss-less. So minion Kevin has the idea of going to a top-secret crime convention to find a baddie to work for. Bob and Stuart join him and in steps Scarlet, the worst villain of them all who is looking for new workers. She tasks them to steal the Queen’s crown no less, hence they arrive in London after an unfortunately short stay in New York and somewhere in Australia in the 1960s. I would have loved to seen some adventures in those places!Rocket dresses, magic swords and an all-star cast (Janney, Bullock, Keaton, Saunders) add to the mix. Bananas!7½/10Smile factor 10/10
