Movie: The Hunger Games Catching Fire
I didn’t particularly want to see the last one but I recall it wasn’t as harrowing as I expected. So I didn’t mind when the boyfriend decided on this film to see during his birthday week.I think the lack of appeal is that this is a future I just don’t want to see – does anyone? When the rich are living in luxury and keeping the poor in ‘districts’ with no chance of moving forward, other than winning at the annual hunger games; games where you have to kill everyone else in order to survive. So no, to have a glimpse of this world is not entertaining or escapism but it is thought-provoking – the third criteria for wanting to see a film and not my preference. I can kind of see the appeal, for the teen audience in particular as at that age, you think you have years to live and death seems a lifetime away.Stanley Tucci didn't have enough to do and Donald Sutherland was more even this time. For me, life is too short and I want to pack every minute in with as many lovely experiences as possible. This one was made nice by spending much sought after time with the boyfriend. And because I popped out for a coffee break half way through. 6/10Smile factor 6/10 (just for the campness)Coffee rating: Instant (just not my thing)
