Movie – Elysium
Dull. The idea is good; the planet is divided into rich and poor with the poor living on dirty, Earth and the rich living on the man-made Elysium glistening like a shiny penny in the sky. Robots are programmed to keep the poor away and generally treat them as second third class citizens as they try to survive on crime ridden, dying Earth.Within a few minutes I decide that this is not that far from our world and it doesn’t feel like that much in the future at all. (The film is placed in 2154). President Patel (brilliant!) is a little bit more kindly than the defence secretary (weirdly played by Jodie Foster) who employs rogue agents to do her dirty work on Earth including trying to over throw the government to take charge herself. She doesn’t count on reformed criminal Max (Matt Damon) who gets exposed to radiation while working for unscrupulous factory management and with only 5 days to live, needs to get to Elysium where every house has a healing pods that fixes everything. No one ages up there either. It's basically LA.6/10Smile factor 5/10Coffee rating Filter
