Films: Truth, Lila & Eve, All Roads Lead to Rome, A Little Game and Fashion Chicks.
A round-up of films seem on the flight to Hong.
My first priority for inflict film watching is to look for films I've missed at the cinema. In this case, there were none, so then I look for what looks interesting and at least one foreign film that I will never come across otherwise.
Truth 7½/10
Somehow, 60 minutes breaking the story of George W Bush of having gone AWOL during the Vietnam war eluded me. In this Robert Redford plays the broadcaster Dan Rather & Cate Blanche plays his producer Mary Mapes. The film portrays the careers of both suffering as a result. Not as good as the Newsroom, but worth watching.
Lila & Eve 8/10
Stunning thrilled film with Viola Davis (love!) and Jennifer Lopes playing mothers of innocent murdered children. They meet at a support group and after the police come up with nothing, one encourages the other to take matters in her own hands.
A comedy without laughs, SJP (come on, choose better films!) plays the mother of an annoying spoilt brat and drags her on a trip (of a lifetime) to Italy. The mum meets and old flame (fine) and the daughter hooks up with his errant elderly mum who wants to runaway.
A Little Game 7½/10
A delightful film. Young girl has to move school when her parents move, doesn't get on with it but the charm of this film is when she gets into chess via the old guys who play in parks. (You get this a lot in North America). She gets good in order to beat the school bully
Fashion Chicks 5/10
I understand I'm not the audience for this Dutch film about the unpopular but nice girl who invents an alternative blogger persona for herself in order to be popular, but just dull.
