Film: The Storm
Strange, sweet and sad.
The Storm is another international film seen at the smaller Odeon (they keep coming!).
The sweet is a foundling, Mantou. Spotted by Daguzi, a man who is already struggling to feed himself but he raises this baby as his own son. Mantou calls him ‘Biggie’,
When the storm comes, so does the strange. All sorts of weird and occasionally wonderful magic happens where ultimately the two are separated. Mantou, with no other friend in the world, spends every hour looking for the man who became his father. There are lost souls, ghost like bubbles and a king with his daughter popping up all over the place.
The Storm is so sad, I left the cinema feeling utterly bereft.
