Film: Shaun the Sheep

There are no words spoken in the film and yet we are effortlessly taken to the innocent, simple world of sheep and a variety of farm friends. The film opens with Shaun deciding a day off, having seen an advert for day trips on the bus that goes past every day.  He sets about planning how he and his pals are going to escape from the farmer for their much deserved day.Much hilarity ensues when there attempt to kidnap him goes immediately awry ending with the farmer losing his memory and Shaun and co realising how much they miss the farmer and his dyed-in-the-wool routine. With all the sheep and Bitzer the dog in tow, they try  to disguise themselves as humans when they arrive in the unfamiliar and scary town. This is mainly to escape the clutches of the animal-despising catcher looking to put strays in a prison (cue Shawshank references) rather than rehouse them. It’s funny and cute in equal measures and a thoroughly watchable 85 minutes. 7½/10Smile factor 10/10
