Film: Paddington in Peru
In this, we see Paddington leave London to visit his supposedly sickly Aunt Lucy back in Peru.
Paddington is still the absolute star of the show. However, the London cast of supporting characters all played their part and now that we are in Peru, we have new characters. The other star was London, and we do miss the fictional, fantasy version of London that Paddington loves.
And of course, we miss Sally Hawkins although Emily Mortimer plays the quirky mum fantastically
well.
We’ve had Nicole Kidman, and then the brilliantly exaggerated performance from Hugh Grant. This time, the evil antagonist is every so slightly overplayed by Olivia Colman, a nun who runs the home for retired bears. We also have Antonio Banderas’ pirate character in the mix. It has been a while since I’ve seen it, and I have forgotten her specific goal. So whereas I remember the storylines of Paddington 1 and 2, partly as I have seen them both many times, this one is slightly forgotten.
However, it’s Paddington so it’s worth a watch. And I love the immigration storyline. (Although I was upset that a fictional character can get an actual British passport when many who have lived here years cannot).
