Film - I've Lost My Body
I Lost My Body consists of two stories. One is of a severed hand that escapes a lab and travels around Paris, seemingly looking for its body. Watching it go about its search bought to mind the power our hands have. When landing on some train tracks, it comes across some threatening rodents and then realised it was as big as them and handled itself well.
The other story is of Naoufel who loses his parents in a car crash when young. He survives and is transported to France to live with his unloving Uncle and cruel cousin. His promising career as an astronaut or pianist did not come to fruition and he works as a pizza delivery guy and turns in his wages to his Uncle.
He falls for Gabrielle and follows her until he plucks up the courage to talk to her. Meanwhile, the hand is still travelling all over Paris and we fear for its safety. At the same time, we fear for Naoufel’s wellbeing and urge him to get away from his manipulating Uncle and fulfil his dreams.
This wonderful animation is sad but rather lovely.
