Film - Good Boys

The story of the friendship of three surprisingly sweary 12-year-olds is less crass than I expected.

One of them has a crush on a girl and upon hearing that he can go to a party where she and the other cool kids will be, it is decided he needs to learn how to kiss and fast. I don't know why this would be the first thing you need to prep for this momentous occasion but I’m not 12 years old.

Their first idea they have is to spy on the ‘nymphomanic’ girl next door with her boyfriend. Of course, that backfires and in the course of their search, they happen upon drugs, tampons and a fair bit of f-words, mostly from their child mouths.

They are up against the clock to be home in time for parents and out in time for party. During the course of their attempt, we learn about asking girls for consent but we don't learn about what tampons are for.

Watching them learn to accept each other's differences as they grow from children into teenagers during the course of xx minutes is quite lovely. Every scene has a decent-to-good line and that and the proof that friendship does indeed conqueor all is what makes this film so much fun.

I’d probably watch it again when on a small screen,
