Film - Dune

It had been a month of no films and wasted membership, what with just ONE BIG FILM showing. So when this came out, I went.

Their cruelty to my people is all I’ve known

• ring any bells on Earth, 2021?

Dune in a nutshell: fighting. Magic. Magic fighting. Fighting magic. Mystery girl. Sand dunes (obvs), all set against a magnificent cinematic backdrop with baddie characters borrowed from the Lord of the Rings museum.

What the heck? A weedy kid and heir to the land is actually going to be able to fight the baddies by the end of this admittedly long film?

A great man doesn’t seek to lead

• ring any bells? Etc.

SPOILER All the way through, my thought was, if they have the power to manipulate people’s actions, why are they ever in danger? Unmemorable.
