Film: Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
I recall seeing the first film only once, although this sequel stands up on its own and is a whole heap of ghostly fun. Now we have 3 generations of the Deetz family; Catherine O’Hara (Delia), Winona Ryder (Lydia) and Jenna Ortega playing her daughter (Astrid). Michael Keaton returns as the devious ghost and we have the addition of Willem Dafoe playing the ghost detective, having been an actor in life.
The Deetz family reunite at the family’s ghostly house for Lydia’s father’s funeral and the old mayhem duly commences.
In the middle of it, we have Lydia trying to reconnect with her estranged daughter while trying to disconnect with her stepmother.
I love it all, it’s the film to escape into.
