Film: Band Four

Band Four is a bittersweet music-based family drama that showcases the power of music in bringing people together.

The story revolves around Band Four member Cat and nine-year-old Riley who is desperate to play drums in the band. Band Four disintegrates as the members move on with their lives and at the same time, Cat’s estranged father and the sister she never knew about turns up. What starts off as intense frustrations and anger with everyone living in her small Hong Kong flat, starts to grow into respect as they bond through music.

The film portrays the ups and downs of their family dynamics as we watch them knit their lives together with music being the mediator.

Another great Hong Kong film seemingly shown only at the little Odeon in town.
