Book - Tales from the Cafe by Toshikazu Kawaguchi

The follow up to Before The Coffee Gets Cold takes us back to the little Tokyo cafe. I may already know about the seat at the table that takes people back in time from that first book, and yet the tales are no less enthralling.

I love that the book is written in relatively modern times and yet seems so old and mystical. Some of the characters from the first book are here. This time we learn more about the retired police detective and who the woman in the chair is. 

This is such a delightful read despite the heavy subjects such as death and illness covered. Really it’s about family, friendship and love. I’m looking forward to whatever Toshikazu Kawaguchi produces next.
